Genesis AEC proved to be the perfect partner for GlaxoSmithKline, a prominent name in the pharmaceutical realm, as they embarked on the design of an advanced cGMP warehouse to enhance their biopharmaceutical production capabilities.
The location and integration of the warehouse were planned to align with GlaxoSmithKline’s existing infrastructure. Placed adjacent to the original entrance of the site, the warehouse’s strategic positioning offers both convenience and efficiency. Its façade design pays tribute to the neighboring structure while ensuring a blend of aesthetics and cost-effectiveness. This thoughtful approach results in a harmonious architectural language that unites the two buildings.
Similarly, the warehouse’s features were carefully designed to optimize its capabilities. Its high-bay design maximizes space utilization, facilitating streamlined storage, shipping, and receiving operations. With an impressive capacity, the facility accommodates a remarkable 1,400 pallet locations, supported by cutting-edge racking systems that include five 20′ stanchions for efficient material management. Dedicated sampling laboratories underscore the commitment to material quality, while specialized zones cater to the storage needs of hazardous chemicals.
Within this comprehensive facility, corporate offices find their place, seamlessly merging administrative and operational functions. This integration ensures a cohesive workflow that enhances overall efficiency. Notably, the warehouse’s eco-friendly design stands out with its vegetative green roof. Beyond its visual appeal, this feature serves as a sustainability initiative, mitigating stormwater runoff and contributing to environmental preservation.
The collaboration between GlaxoSmithKline and Genesis AEC resulted in a state-of-the-art cGMP warehouse that goes beyond conventional expectations for both design and functionality.
