Leading Biopharmaceutical Company - 850 Ton Chiller Plant Upgrade

Central Plant Efficiency – 850 Ton Chiller Plant Capacity Upgrade

The Critical Infrastructure team at Genesis was commissioned by a global pharmaceutical leader to execute a mission-critical chiller plant capacity upgrade. The project involved replacing a legacy unit with a more efficient 850-ton water-cooled chiller while upgrading the associated pumping systems to enhance reliability and mitigate equipment obsolescence.

Our team navigated significant physical constraints within the central plant to deliver several key infrastructure improvements:

  • System Scaling: Replaced the existing unit with a high-efficiency 850-ton chiller within the same physical footprint.

  • Redundancy & Reliability: Upgraded secondary chilled water pumps to achieve N+1 redundancy, ensuring increased system capacity and parts availability.

  • Maintenance Bypass: Installed permanent utility hookups for a rental cooling tower, providing crucial maintenance bypass capabilities for the entire facility.

  • Precision Rigging: Developed a complex logistical plan to maneuver the larger equipment into a highly constrained central plant environment with zero disruption to active operations.

By completing this chiller plant capacity upgrade, Genesis delivered a resilient cooling solution that ensures long-term operational continuity for the client’s manufacturing site.
